Summer in Canada vs. Summer in the Philippines

some people claim that they prefer summer in the philippines than summer in canada.

what do i think?

summer in the philippines is hot. humid. and sunny. summer in canada is hot. dry. and scorching.

last year when i didn't realize that summer was about to start, i was surprised to see my son come back from school 2 shades darker than when he had left for school.

the sun is so hot in canada that using a sunscreen is absolutely necessary. in fact, i normally start to put on sunscreen on my children towards the end of spring. i put this on them everyday before going to school. if we think we'll be under the sun for a period of time, we always put on sunscreen to protect ourselves from the damage that the sun's rays can do to our skin.

in the philippines, i never felt the need to put on sunscreen. the sun isn't as hot and scorching as it is here. in fact, i think that the only time i do put on sunscreen in the philippines is when we go to swimming. other than that, i don't have much use for it.

one thing that i like better here is that it is not humid. i hate the sticky feeling that summer has in the philippines. as long as i'm in the shade, i think i'd prefer summer here if only to avoid the sticky, icky feeling.

Well, it depends on what PART of Canada you're talking about. It's rather relative, don't you think? The summer weather varies depending on what part of Canada you're living in... Same goes for winter.

I think summer in the Philippines is very refreshing, especially when you go swimming! The beaches are just wonderful, full of fish and corals and everything. You have to visit soon though because it is getting polluted by the second! The government should really put up more eco tourism thing to give the locals income without dynamite fishing or whatever.

You cant compare Phil and Canada why?

Phil has around 34~38 Deg Cel during summer but Filipinos are used to it.

4 C's that makes Phil even hotter?
Car engines, Car smokes, CFC and Crowded areas.

Canada has great cold weather.
Less summer more cold times, so most people are used to have cold weather, evolution. So when the temperature increase to 30+ degree, most arent use to it and eventually get illed/sick about it but I tell you this, Phil has greater heat than Canada if we added those 4 C's .

I'm a Filipino, been in Phil for like 18 years and now im living here in Vancouver BC for like 5 years now, and yea i love the weather, summer is like my Phil normal temperature.

Another thing is, people here in Canada get fat coz of the weather, I dont get sweaty here unlike in Phil walk a bit and you'll be sweaty.

sunscreen is not to protect you from getting dark.. it's protects you from uva/uvb radiation from the sun. so it's necessary to put on sunscreen even in all season as long as the sun is shining bright...

summer in canada is beautiful especially in the countryside, this you you only get 4 months a year... in the philippines, it's almost always summery but from march till may it's super awesome because you have all the delicious tropical fruits which are very affordable and the beautiful beaches.

Rump a rooz said...

Where else could anyone get that kind of information in such a perfect way of writing

Anhgj said...

The reason why the heat seems more unbearable and scorching in Canada is because the sun rays during summer is focused in one place and direct. Philippines may be close to the Equator, but the sun rays are kind of deflected/ stretched out.
